Best Places to Stay in Tuscany – Saturnia Tuscany Hotel
I absolutely love Tuscany, it’s one of my favorite regions of Italy and I never get tired of going back to visit. On my most recent trip to Tuscany I chose to stay in Saturnia, which is in the Grosseto region of Tuscany. This was my first time visiting this area, and I was blown away by how stunning it was & it is now one of my top recommendations for areas to stay in Tuscany.
I stayed at the Saturnia Tuscany Hotel and absolutely cannot recommend it enough. I’m already dreaming of when I can make it back to this area & this hotel. Keep reading for my full hotel review and reasons why you should head to the Saturnia Tuscany Hotel for your next Tuscan adventure!

The Location
Saturnia is located in the province of Grosseto, and is one of my favorite areas of Tuscany. Driving through this area offers some of the most stunning views of the Tuscan countryside that I have ever seen.
Saturnia is also home to a series of natural hot springs. The stunning Cascate del Mulino (pictured above) has become something of an Instagram sensation, increasing the popularity of this area. These natural hot springs form a series of visually stunning cascading pools that can be visited for free.
These hot springs are only a 5 minute drive from Saturnia Tuscany Hotel. You can see my full guide for visiting the hot springs here.
The hotel is also located near the charming hilltop Tuscan towns of Saturnia & Montemerano.
Other Tuscan highlights in driving distance of the hotel are:
- Orvieto – 1 hour and 30 minute drive
- Civita Di Bagnoreggio – 1 hour and 30 minute drive
- Manciano – 25 minute drive
- Motepulciano – 1 hour and 45 minute drive
- Pienza – 1 hour 30 minute drive
- Montalcino – 1 hour and 20 minute drive
- Val d’Orcia – 1 hour and 50 minute drive
- Tuscan Seaside towns – about 1 hour drive
The Amenities
This hotel had a lot to offer in terms of amenities (free and paid)
The Pool
An infinity pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside & sunset? Yes, please. I love pools probably more than the average person, but this one was absolutely stunning. I was thrilled to find the pool was open in April (was worried it would be a bit early in the season)
The water was a bit cold (the temperatures at night were still dropping quite a bit, so not surprised) but the views were unmatched. Had it been warmer I probably would have had a hard time getting out of this pool!
The Breakfast
Breakfast was included and served at the on-site restaurant. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic! They offer you a large menu and you can choose as many items as you want – fruits, deli meats, eggs, yogurt, breakfast meats & more! It was a lovely spread and a good base for a day of exploring the countryside and tasting some Tuscan wines!
The Spa
They offer an on-site spa with a variety of treatments – this is all a la carte and you can find the full list of services and their prices here. Some of their treatments include:
- Relaxing massages
- Lymphatic Drainage Massages
- Facials
- Sauna
- Turkish Baths
- Jacuzzis
Food & Drink
The on-site restaurant and bar at Saturnia Tuscany hotel, La Chianina Pescatrice, was incredible. First and foremost, it offers the most stunning views of the sunset over the Tuscan countryside (see pic above) The patio is the absolute best spot to grab a late afternoon drink or a pre-dinner aperitif for sunset before heading into the dining room.
The menu is a la carte, and features a variety of traditional Tuscan dishes. The specialty is Chianina beef, local to the Tuscan region. I highly recommend getting steak!
The servers were super sweet and overall dinner here was a 10/10 experience. I actually ate here both nights (usually I don’t like to eat at the same place twice while traveling, but this was so good and so conveniently located in the hotel!)
The Rooms
The rooms at the Saturnia Tuscany Hotel were clean, spacious for a European hotel and well equipped. I’m not someone who spends a ton of time in the room, so as long as it is clean and the best is comfortable, I’m not one to complain.
This room was a bit more spacious than your average European hotel. There was a large closet, a decent sized bathroom, a huge patio with chairs & a table for sitting outside.
I did not splurge for a room with a view. One side of the building has rooms that overlook the pool and the Tuscan countryside (they also have the best sunset views) I’m sure the rooms would be nice, but personally, it wasn’t worth the extra cost as the hotel has a large patio where you can sit out for the view, the restaurant/bar also has the same view, so you don’t need an upgraded room to catch the epic sunset views!
The Cost
I visited Saturnia in April and paid $265 total for 2 nights for a standard room. This room had a view away from the pool & sunset, so it was a bit cheaper, but was such a bargain for a hotel this nice!
