About Me
Backpacks and Bubbly is all about getting the most out of your trip, while also taking the time to enjoy a glass of wine (or three) with the perfect view

Hi! I’m Tory

I’m the writer, photographer, and creator of Backpacks and Bubbly. I’m based out of Boston, but thanks to remote work, I spend most of my time traveling around the world! As someone who spends a lot of time researching for various trips I’ve decided to share what I’ve learned to help you plan your next trip or find your new dream travel destination.

I share share travel itineraries, and destination guides on where to stay, what to do, best spots for drinks with views, & solo travel tips mixed with a healthy dose of awkward/funny/embarrassing misadventures (ie. almost being trampled by a donkey in Santorini, trying to book a massage in Barcelona only to find out I was in an erotic massage partlor, getting pooped on by a pigeon in Malta when all dressed up for a sunset photo shoot, being told I wasn’t allowed a table for 1 in Santorini & so many more!)

I love travel of pretty much all shapes and sizes. I studied abroad in Florence (my absolute favorite place in the world) during my sophomore year at UConn and spent most of the semester traveling with my roommates all around Italy & Europe (mostly by bus) and spending the least money possible. After college my sister and I backpacked through Europe for 6 weeks staying in hostels.

These days travel looks a little different, although I still use the same backpack I got for my semester abroad, I tend to stay in hotels or airbnbs and will splurge for a nice view! Since I’m working remotely I tend to do more solo travel than I used to, but still love a group trip when my friends can join. I love short trips where you try to see as much as possible in a few days. I find them perfect for scouting locations to choose to return to for longer future trips.

Even on short trips where I spend most of my time running around trying to see how much I can squeeze in, I always make sure to leave some time for finding the best spots for a glass of wine with a view! Nothing beats taking some time to relax and live like a local – even if it’s only for a few hours.
