15 Best Restaurants in Stowe, Vermont – Cozy Eats & Mountain Vibes

Stowe Mountain Village

Updated on:

Stowe is one of my favorite places to visit in Vermont in any season. It’s small, quaint and the most quintissential New England town you could pick to visit, and it’s wild popularity means that there’s a bunch great restaurants in the area to eat at when you’re visiting. Stowe is filled with cozy pubs serving elevated bar food, but also offers a few higher end places, great pizza, sandwiches, Mexican restaurants & breakfast spots.

I’ve visited Stowe many times, and tried them all, so I’ve compiled my 15 favorite places to eat in Stowe here!

Doc Ponds

Slightly elevated pub food with typical New England bar vibes. Highlights include the mac & cheese, dry rub wings and the chips & dip. The menu rotates, but never disappoints in my opinion!

The Bench

This was a popular spot with my niece and nephew. They loved the s’mores dessert. I loved the chicken parm pizza! The inside is cozy and the perfect place to warm up after a long day outdoors. Some other highlights include some more upscale options like duck, steak frites, Faroe salmon.

The Matterhorn

Classic bar food and sushi..? Sounds like a weird combo, but Matterhorn is a Stowe classic and a local favorite. It’s also one of the best apres spots in town! This place is always busy, and for good reason. They also offer poke bowls, dumplings in addition to sushi & bar classics like burgers and chicken tenders.

Finer Dining Options Stowe

You’re still in a laid back mountain town, so anywhere you go in town will feature casual post adventure attire (ski or hiking gear) but for a more elevated diniing experience you do have a few great options.

Grant’s

A Stowe staple! Grant’s mixes good food with a laid back bar. It’s always one of my favorite meals in Stowe, whether it’s a post ski apres meal or a more dressed up night out. I love the bolognese. Other highlights are the seafood and steaks!

Alpine Hall

located in Spruce Peak Village (base of Stowe Mountain)

If you’re staying in Spruce Peak Village (my favorite place to stay) and don’t want to venture the 10-15 minutes into town, Alpine Hall is an upscale option at the Lodge at Spruce Peak. Be warned the prices are high, so you need to know what to expect, but I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the convenience! I got the steak and thought it was delicious!

Best Italian & Pizza Stowe

Trattoria La Festa

Good, classic Italian food in a casual, New England-style pub, honestly this is my favorite kind of place. Casual, cozy with great food. I go for the classics like chicken parm or spaghetti and meatballs, but you’ll also find higher end dishes like veal chops, duck confit manicotti, etc.

Menu and Reservations

Piecasso

I really enjoyed the pizza at Piecasso. It’s a full restaurant, but also a great palce to sit at the bar and grab food. They had a big wraparound bar with a fun atmosphere and friendly bartenders. I went for a make your own pizza with meatballs and ricotta. They have tons of pizza topping options. They also have a full non-pizza menu.

American Flatbread

Another great pizza option in town, with a lovely patio in the summer! American Flatbread was such a vibe with it’s wood interior, long tables. This is the perfect place for a big group and the pizza was delicious. You can also grab pizzas to go. Another highlight is they do half and half pies, which I loved since there were so many good options.
