10 Best Rooftop Bars in Rome
Rome has some great rooftop bar options spread all across the city! I’ve spent my last few trips to Rome checking out rooftop bars that offer the best views of all of the cities most famous monuments, like the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Vatican & more! Finding a rooftop bar with a view is a great way to unwind after a long day of exploring Italy’s most famous city.
I’ve put together a list of my 10 favorite rooftop bars. You can use the map to find the one near you or just to the area of Rome you want to find rooftop bars in. You can also check out my full Rome travel guide here. Cheers!

Best Rooftop Bars Trevi Fountain
Roof Garden at Hotel Relais Fontana Di Trevi
One of my absolute favorite rooftops in Rome is the Roof Garden at Hotel Relais Fontana Di Trevi. This small, open air bar is quaint and offers partially obstructed (but still stunning) views of the Trevi Fountain, my favorite monument in Rome.
If you’ve visited before, you’ll know the fountain and the area around it is always SO crowded. It’s in a small piazza, so people are literally everywhere. The best way to view it is definitely from above. This hotel bar is open to the public, so you don’t have to be a guest of the hotel. Only a few tables have views, but they do a good job letting people move from back tables up to the front if you’re patient!
Hotel Fontana
Another option near the Trevi Fountain is the rooftop at the Hotel Fontana. This small, enclosed bar offers unobstructed views of the fountain (although the glass makes pictures tough, and the general vibe of the Roof Garden at Hotel Relais Fontana Di Trevi is preferable in my opinion, even if the views are more obstructed)
It’s 20 euro per person to visit the bar, and it includes one drink, so the price is a bit steep, but it really is one of the best ways to see the entire fountain!
Best Rooftop Bars Colosseum
Aroma
I’ll preface by saying, Aroma is a restaurant, not a bar, and a Michelin starred restaurant at that (read: pricy) BUT if you want Colosseum views this is the absolute best (and really one of the only) options around. The views are unmatched, and the food is unreal. If you’re looking to splurge for a view, this is my top recommendation. Reservations are a must!
Oro Bistrot
This charming rooftop is located near the Colosseum (but does not provide views of the Colosseum itself) It provides stunning views of Monument to Victor Emmanuel II & is particularly beautiful at sunset. The cocktails run about 20 dollars each, so you’re paying for the view. You can always just get one and enjoy the view!
American Bar at the Hotel Forum
For a rooftop with views of the impressive Roman Forum, head to the American Bar on the roof of the Hotel Forum. You can visit the bar or make a dinner reservation. As with most places offering views like this, you’re paying for the view and drinks can be pricier. I’d call and check their hours ahead of time, it seemed that their times varied!
47 Circus Roof Garden
Another great spot in the area near the Colosseum is 47 Circus Roof Garden, this large open-aired rooftop offered 360 views of the area. This is another spot where you can’t see the Colosseum directly. It’s a great spot for watching the sun set over the Tiber. It’s located inside the Fortyseven Hotel, but you don’t need to be staying at the hotel to visit the bar.
Best Rooftop Bars Pantheon
La Terrazza del Cesàri
Located inside 9 Hotel Cesari, La Terrazza del Cesàri offers a two storied rooftop bar with views of the pretty, white marble facade of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Church and views over historic Piazza di Pietra. This is a great spot in the Pantheon neighborhood .
Best Rooftop Bars Spanish Steps
Cielo Terrace
The Spanish Steps are a great option for watching the sun set over the entire Roman skyline, you can always just grab a bottle of wine and head there, but if you’re looking for a rooftop bar with the same view, Cielo Terrace is one of my favorite rooftops in Rome! This is one of the best sunset spots in the city.
You can head here for dinner, or just cocktails. They often have live music as well. Overall 10/10 rooftop in Rome!
Best Rooftop Bars Vatican Views
Navona Queen Roooftop
Located in the Navona Queen Rooftop hotel, this is one of the most stunning rooftops in Rome I’ve visited. It offers insane sunset views over the Vatican. It was unclear to me whether they allowed non-hotel guests to visit. It’s a massive roof, but it seemed a very low-key, casual run place, so I’d recommend calling to confirm they’re open and you can visit if you’re not staying at the hotel. You will not be disappointed!
Minuetto – Castelo Sant’Angelo
One of Rome’s best kept secrets is Minuetto, the rooftop bar/cafe inside Castelo Sant’Angelo that has some of the best views of Vatican City (and 360 views of the rest of the city) You’ll need to buy a ticket to the castle in order to visit, but these really are some of the best views of the city and well worth a visit. If you can time it with sunset the views are unreal!
