10 Best Restaurants in Grindelwald, Switzwerland
Grindelwald is one of the most popular (and stunnning) towns in the Swiss Alps, it also has more options in terms of restaurants and accomodations than some of the other popular towns nearby, like Lauterbrunnen. This makes it a great place to stay in the Alps or stop to have a meal while exploring the area. I’ve spent a bunch of time in Grindelwald and put together my list of 10 best restautants here!
One thing to note is Grindelwald is super expensive, all of Switzerland is generally pricy, especially tourist towns, but after spending a lot of time in Switzerland, Grindelwald stood out to me as one of the most expensive areas I visited, I think mostly due to the lack of options in the area, and the unreal moutain views in every direction!

Best Overall
Views, food, vibes – this is the best spot in Grindelwald! Try their infamous tomahawk steak, or a Swiss classic, eat inside their cozy traditional restaurant, or sit on the large terrace to enjoy the views!
Barry’s Restaurant
Best for Dinner & Drinks
Barry’s is right in downtown Grindelwald and is the perfect spot for a varied menu with cozy cabin vibes & a lively bar. They offer soups, salads, burgers, steaks, a wide range of specialties and more! They have 2 seatings each night, so make sure you make reservations in advance.

Stallbeizli Heubode
Best Swiss Restaurant
For a classic Swiss meal in a stunning chalet-style restaurant nesteld in the moutains with views, Stallbeizli Heubode is your spot. You’ll likely need to drive here as its a bit far from the main street of Grindelwald where many of the restaurants and hotels are located, but it’s well worth the trip! They offer all the classics – fondue, raclettes, cheese plates, sausage, potatoes and more!

BaseCamp Restaurant
Best for Light Lunch with a View
If you’re looking for a spot in downtown Grindelwald with great food and even better views, BaseCamp is your spot. A little more upscale with a smaller menu than other options on this same strip with similar views, BaseCamp offers beef tartar, pinsa & a handful of mains like burgers and pork sandwiches.

Berggasthaus First
Best Views from the Top of the Moutains
I highly recommend heading up into the mountains, the easiest one to visit is First Mountain, where the epic Cliff Walk is. If you want food with the most amazing views head to Berggasthaus First. There is more casual self-service cafe or a table service restaurant – at either you can sit on the patio overlooking First Cliff Walk and the views over Grindelwald and the moutains!

Restaurant Pinte
Best Pub in Grindelwald
Cozy atmosphere, good food, great drinks & good vibes are all on tap at Restaurant Pinte, located right on the main street of downtown Grindelwald, this is the perfect spot to get dinner after a long day of exploring, skiing, hiking, etc.
Ristorante pizzeria Da Salvi
Best Variety
If you’re looking for a varied menu, head to Ristorante pizzeria Da Salvi – it’s located right in downtown Grindelwald and you’ll find a bit of everything on their menu! Pizza, fish, pasta, steak & more! This was a great spot for a meal after a long travel day!

Glacier Fine Dining
Best Upscale Dining
Located in the stunning Boutique Glacier Hotel (where I stayed on my most recent trip to the Alps) Glacier Fine Dining is an upscale spot with an a la carte or a 5 and 7 course tasting menu. Make sure to make a reservation for the tasting menu and a table, otherwise they have a more casual lounge side where you can order from the a la carte menu. The whole place has glass windows with panoramic views over the mountains!

Bebbis Restaurant
Best Casual Spot with Views
Laid back Bebbis has a patio offering some of the best views in Grindelwald. This is the perfect place to grab lunch as you’re wandering through Grindelwald. Their menu offers fondue, burgers, pizzas, fish, racelettes and more. Don’t expect the finest dining, but the views are worth it. I recommend a small snack & a view!
