Ruka is a tiny , picturesque ski town in Lapland with tons of nature & views, but limited amenities — and that’s genuinely part of its charm. Unlike Levi, which has a full village with tons of dining options, Ruka keeps things tight and manageable. What it lacks in volume it more than makes up for in quality, with a surprisingly good mix of slopeside spots, a proper steakhouse, great pizza, and a couple of local favourites that are worth knowing about. I’ve eaten my way through the village and these are my top picks for where to eat in Ruka, Finland.
One heads up: Ruka is seasonal and a smaller resort, so hours and availability can change — always worth checking ahead before making plans around a specific restaurant!

Piste Bar & Restaurant
Your go-to for a midday mountain lunch or apres beers. Piste sits right at the base of Ruka’s slopes with a deck that overlooks the mountain — ideal for watching people come down the piste while you warm up with a bowl of their famous salmon soup or some chicken tenders, my preferred midday ski meal. It’s spacious, lively, and exactly the kind of slopeside spot you want after a long morning on the mountain. Later in the evening it also turns into a proper bar/club with live music, so it pulls double duty nicely.
Stefan’s Steakhouse
Same excellent chain as in Levi — and just as good. Stefan’s is the top pick for a nicer dinner out in Ruka, right in the heart of Ruka Village next to the slopes. The menu runs from Black Angus and Wagyu cutts and all kinds of steaks or mix it up with duck breast and Arctic char, all done with a modern Nordic touch and backed by a great wine list. It’s stylish but not over the top. I went in both Ruka and Levi and would happily go back to either. If you’re celebrating something or just want a genuinely excellent meal, this is where to book.
Ravintola Vespino
Ruka’s most chic dining option — modern Italian with a great wine selection and a more elevated atmosphere than most places in the village. If you’re after handmade pasta, good wine and a slightly more grown-up dinner vibe after a day on the slopes, Vespino is the pick. Highlights for me were the lasagna and the lemon chicken pasta!
Pizzeria Ruka
Worth driving a bit outside of Ruka village for — and that’s saying something given how small and walkable the resort is. Pizzeria Ruka is a proper wood-fired pizza spot that combines traditional Italian technique with Northern Finland ingredients.. They make their own dough daily with a house secret recipe, use locally sourced fresh ingredients where possible, and even do Lapland-inspired toppings like reindeer. One of the best pizza spots I’ve found anywhere in Finnish Lapland.
Hanki Baari
Arguably the most loved spot in Ruka — and the one the locals actually go to.. Hanki Baari is cozy, super laid-back, and serves homemade food with a creative, unique menu that changes and surprises. It’s one of those places where the vibe is as good as the food — warm, friendly, unpretentious. Works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for settling in for an evening with good drinks.
Classic Pizza
Exactly what the name suggests — and exactly what you need after a long day on the slopes when everyone’s hungry and nobody wants to think too hard about where to eat. Classic Pizza is casual, family-friendly and reliably good. Great for groups, great for kids, great for when you just want something satisfying without fuss. A Ruka staple for good reason.
RUOK Burger
Fast casual counter service and genuinely good burgers — right in the middle of Ruka Village so you can’t miss it. RUOK (Are You OK) is the spot for a quick, satisfying meal without sitting down for a full dinner. The smash burgers are the move, and the fries are excellent — they’re fair-style fries and so good. Solid vegetarian and vegan options too if that’s relevant for your group.
