Best Luxury Hotel in the Dolomites
I knew I wanted to splurge for an epic hotel on my Dolomites trip last spring. I had seen endless instagrams of hotels with crazy infinity pools offering stunning mountain views, but one hotel had been on my bucket list forever. The Miramonti Boutique Hotel in Merano, an Alpine town in the South Tyrol region of Italy,
The Miramonti Boutique Hotel features the most stunning infinity pool with mountain views, as well as a series of saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge pools, a second infinity pool, an on-site restaurant and terrace with mountain views, views from every room, an amazing breakfast, & more.
This really was one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I had the most peaceful two days here and could have stayed so much longer.

The Location
Miramonti Boutique Hotel is located in Avelengo, a small village in the mountains above Merano. Merano is a spa town located in the Italian Alps that features thermal baths, hiking, skiing and more. Technically this region is a bit west of the “Dolomites” and is more in the Italian Alps.
Exploring the Dolomites requires a car in general, and the main things to see tend to be a bit spread out. Merano is worth exploring on its own, but it is still possible to explore the Dolomites from here as well. It adds about an extra 30-40 minutes to some of your drives, and is particularly far from some of the highlights of the eastern Dolomites, but to me this hotel was worth a little extra driving.
You definitely need a car to visit this hotel, as it’s pretty remote. They offer garage valet parking on site. The drive there requires driving up a windy mountain pass, which is common in all areas of the Dolomites. As long as you’re going slow you shouldn’t have any problem.
Time to Dolomites Highlights:
- Bolzano – 40 minutes
- Brizen – 1 hour 10 minutes
- Ortisei – 1 hour 15 minutes
- Val Gardena – 1 hour 20 minutes
- Lago di Braies – 2 hours
- Cortina d’Ampezzo – 2 hours 33 minutes
The Amenities
The Infinity Pool
By far the most stunning aspect of the hotel, the massive infinity pool is open year round and offers the most stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valley. It also has the best sunset view over the mountains. I could have stayed in this pool forever.
The Onsen Pool
A second pool located high above the hotel itself, this warmer water pool is smaller, but offers similarly stunning mountain views.
The Sauna
Miramonti offers a series of saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge pools, hot tubs and more. These are spread out in the mountain area behind and above the hotel, accessed via a charming series of wooden steps leading you through the mountains.
The Spa
Miramonti offers spa services and treatments on site as well that include massages, mud treatments and more!
The Gym
If you’re looking to exercise in addition to relax during your stay at Miramonti they offer an on-site gym as well.
Food & Drink
Breakfast
Breakfast is included with your stay, featuring a large buffet and a menu for eggs & other cooked upon request foods.
Panorama Restaurant
The Panorama Restaurant is a small, fine dining restaurant with the best views from the hotel. For dinner you’ll need to make reservations here. For lunch you might be able to walk in, but reservations are encouraged.
Osteria Montana
The hotel’s main restaurant (where breakfast is also served) This menu offers mostly Northern Italian cuisine, the menu is updated often. I was able to eat here without reservations, but reservations can also be made online. They are open for late afternoon snacks/drinks and dinner.
Stube
A classic Tirolean restaurant, you’ll need to make reservations in advance to eat here. The specialties of the house are the beef tartare prepared tableside and the cheese raclette. This is a heavier meal with refined menu, so definitely review your options before you go!
Bar & Terrace
They also offer a bar and a terrace where you can grab drinks with views or some bar food, like burgers, pizzas, aperitivo & more. The atmosphere both outside on the terrace and inside the cozy bar are lovely.
The Rooms
Miramonti offers a variety of different rooms. Every room features a stunning mountain view. I stayed in a standard guest suite that had an excellent view, balcony, amazingly comfortable bed and one of the nicest showers. They also offer more upscale room options, but there was no need to splurge in my opinion as the standard rooms were so nice!
The Cost
I visited the Miramonti Boutique Hotel in April and spent $600 a night. This is technically off season in the Dolomites (in between ski and hiking season) so I imagine the prices go up during peak seasons!
