Chania is one of the main cities in Crete (and my recommendation as a home base for a first time visit to Crete!) Chania is in a great location for exploring the highlights of Crete, it has an airport, plus, the charming Old Town and surrounding area is filled with tons of great accommodation options, and, of course, restaurants!

Crete has some of the best food in all of Greece in my opinion. The food is fresh, delicious, and generally cheap (Crete is much cheaper than more popular islands like Santorini or Mykonos) Below is my roundup of the best restaurants in Chania’s Old Town and the surrounding area.
