Dreamy Strasbourg was offering more than just stunning views, unreal photography conditions & the most charming Christmas Markets on my recent visit, it was also home to some incredible restaurants. I could have stayed days longer just eating my way through all of the cozy restaurants spreadh throughout Old Town, and the cooler Christmas temps paired perfectly with the savory, rich cuisine of Alsace’s capitol city.
Here’s my guide on all the best eats in Strasbourg’s Old Town area!

Best Traditional Alsatian Restaurants in Strasbourg
L’Oignon
This was one of my favorite meals in Strasbourg! This place is super popular, so definitely make a reservation. The traditional French onion soup was classic & so cozy after a cold day of exploring Christmas Markets & the popular tiger steak dish was delicious, a bit of sweet style sauce. Almost every table around me ordered it as well!

Au Petit Bois Vert
For the best canal views in Petite France, head to the patio at Au Petit Bois Vert. The views are some of my favorite in Strasbourg, and this charming spot seems quiet despite the bustling surrounding it’s a bit tucked away. The menu features traditional Alsatian foods like Flammekuche (tarte flambee) which are flatbreads topped with cream cheese and your choice of toppings. You’ll also find foie gras, onion soup, Alsatian game and more.

La Petite Venise
One of the most charming and picturesque restaurants in Strasbourg’s Old Town is La Petite Venise, located in a charming, typical half-timbered building in the heart of Petite France. They serve a typicak Atlasian menu, but are doing it better than many other spots in the same neighborhood. For a traditional meal, head here!

Abattoir Café
This cozy spot right outside of Petite France had a charming, local vibe. There werre lots of local students grabbing lunch and drinks when I was there, and it was the perfect place for a quick bite or a few beers. Plus, the tarte flambee was 💯

Le Thomasien Restaurant
Another traditional spot in the La Petite France neighborhood of Strasbourg. A perfect spot for a quick tarte flambee or bite after a long day of exploring.

Restaurant La Petite Alsace
Another traditional Alsatian spot in La Petite Venise. If you’re looking for a picuresque patio with views of one of Strasbourg’s prettiest streets lined with half-timbered houses this is the perfect spot.

Best Fine Dining in Strasbourg
Le Stras’
For fine dining in Strasbourg this is my top recommendation. A hidden gem, high end spot in a touristy area. I loved the foie gras!
La Rivière
High end Asian cuisine wih a European twist. If you’re into presentation, the food is stunning and each dish comes with a detailed explanation. You’ll find a big variety on the menu – sushi, fish, noodles, steak & more dishes are all Asian and middle Eastern inspired. This is a higher price point option!

L’eveil des Sens
This spot was great for a coursed meal. They offer fixed price 2 or 3 course menus serving traditional French & Belgian cuisine. The menu is small, but the food is incredible, and a bit mor affordable for a high end option. The 3 course meal is 60 euro per person.

Top non-Traditional Restaurants in Strasbourg
Académie de la Bière
Best Pub
This pub was right near my Airbnb and I went here a few times. It was the perfect pub, always busy, cozy, good drinks & vibes, plus good pub food.
Lacocina
Best Mexican
If you’re looking to mix it up and take a break from Alsatian cuisine this was a great little burrito spot. I had been in Alsace for about 10 days at this point and it was nice to mix it up!
Brasserie L’OKTOBERFEST Strasbourg
German Food
A fun bar with German food, a fun spot with schnitzel and other German traditional foods!
